The 2018 SOM International Music Festival Competition is open to all instrumentalists of all nationalities.
The live audition will be held at Turtle Bay Music School in New York City, August 4, 2018
The award ceremony and winners concert will take place at Adelphi University Performing Arts Center on August 5, 2018 at 3pm.

ELIGIBILITY
*Participants must be of qualifying age as of July 10th, 2018
Category A: Up to age 10
Category B: Ages 11-15
Category C: Ages 16-22
Category D: Chamber Ensembles (N0 Age limit)
AUDITION & REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS
Category A : Up to 3 minutes
Any piece that reflects the participants capabilities.
Category B – Up to 7 minutes
One or more compositions from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or 20th century.
Category C – Maximum 12 minutes
One or more major works from Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or 20th century.
(Ex. Haydn sonata in c minor XVI: 20, Chopin scherzo no. 2, Rachmaninoff preludes)
Category D- up to 8 minutes
Free choice for one piece of music within time limit.
JURY
The jury will consist of three distinguished professional musicians.

COMPETITION RULES
- The order of performance will be determined by the competition committee.
- All contestants must perform from memory.
- Contestants in duo or chamber music ensembles may use the music
- Contestants are required to bring music to the competition.
- Violin/Cello must bring his/her own pianist.
- The decision of jury is final and not subject to questions, revisions, or appeal.
- Judge's scores and comments will not be disclosed.
- Notification of winners will be sent by email and will be posted on the website.
- All winners must be present in person at the award ceremony to receive prizes.
